Focusing on timeless aesthetics, our latest drop is an array of clean cut classics infused with a modern edge. To perfectly complement the collection, we couldn’t look past one of our favourite destinations: the sunny, carefree California. Here, we teamed up with the inherently laid-back Cal Travis Oaks to take our team and our designs to his local hangouts in downtown Pasadena for a day in LA.

Born in Tennessee from humble beginnings, Cal’s natural style is consistently classic, a seamless fit with our latest drop. After spending some time shooting at his home, the skateboarder and filmmaker took the Afends team to the Pasadena Home Depot parking lot that doubles as a popular skate spot to put our designs to the test before we spent the afternoon sinking smalls and bigs, and of course a few beers, at Cal’s local pool hall where we found the perfect stage. The checkerboard floors and timeless design of the hall provided the Beat Generation feel that so often inspires our collections and accompanied the range perfectly.

Huge thanks to @caltravisoaks for being an all-around legend and showing us around.

Paris with Elodie Gervaise | Afends

Paris with Elodie Gervaise | Afends

Afends – Afends muse and all-round rockstar, Elodie Gervaise let us revel in her new single, Rust. In a hazy Parisian dream, we drifted through the city with Elodie, her honey-soaked voice circling around a vine-covered courtyard and filling her apartment and dancing off rooftops. Gervaise’s magic scattered through every harmonious second, we felt inspired by the Aussie singer to stop and smell the flowers (literally). Head to toe in the latest Women’s collection, using a mix of digital and film to capture each look, these pieces never looked more on point. Sporting an all-white ensemble to start, with the new Shannen shirt tucked into our favourite Campbell shorts, this fresh and feminine get up set us on our way through the French capital that Gervaise calls home. Embracing the monochromatic palette, jumping from black to white in the Juliette crop and Sharona singlet whether it is effortlessly waiting for the metro or sliding through skateboarders, the endorphins kicked in. And finally, fulfilling all our gingham dreams, the Ryder pants and Winona bucket, the perfect match takes us to the end of this short but oh so sweet film, bisous. Saltwater Dreamtime by Zachary Bennett-Brook | Afends

Afends – We’re pleased to release our forth limited edition capsule collaboration with Zachary Bennett-Brook, our good mate and the artist behind Saltwater Dreamtime. Zachary is a contemporary Indigenous artist born and raised in Wollongong (Dharawal Country) with a love for the ocean and creating artworks which represent his cultural heritage and passions. On the Saltwater Dreamtime Vol 4 collection, Zach said “For this design I drew inspiration from our natural environment, in particular leaves and water flowing, moving. I decided to add a few different artwork style in each of the little sections which play off those natural themes, with the more circular designs reflecting water and ripples on the water and the sharper harder lined sections reflecting the earth and dry land.” This year we wanted to kick 12 Days of Good Vibes off on the right foot and put our money where our mouth is, so riding off Zach’s notability we decided we wanted to give someone else a voice and platform they wouldn’t usually get. Enter the local Indigenous artist group, Toys Change Lives. An employment pathway staffed by Indigenous youth who have been released from Juvenile Justice Detention Centers or who have had a brush with the Justice System and are believed to be ‘At Risk’, we wanted to support Toys Change Lives anyway we can after seeing the amazing work they do, so this year we’re releasing a limited run of toys online and in-store to help get the word out, as well as giving 100% of sales back to the epic team to help fund art supplies and help them continue their epic work. Find out more about Zach Bennett-Brook, Toys Change Lives and of course 12 Days of Good Vibes on the blog. – Video by @jaencollective
