Two years ago, an Atlanta skateboarder known only as Ferg sent us a full part of him skating in Timberland boots (you know, the tan boots that real New Yorkers live and breathe for).

We had to premiere it, not only because Timb footy is always a good time, but because Ferg took Timb skating to a new level. It’s not like older skaters (Penny, Wenning, Pepe Martinez) who were just “good for skating in big-ass Timbs.” Ferg is good period—hardflipping triple sets, hitting handrails, and crip walking after bangers—so adding Timbs to the equation is straight wild.

jenkemmag – Tristan Mershon, a NY transplant from Florida, did his spring cleaning early this year and just put out nine minutes of skating shot in the good ol’ days of last year. In any other situation, we’d say this is the kind of edit–free and fun-loving and full of homies you want to be friends with–that would make you want to get out and skate. But, until we get through this social distancing stuff, you’ll just have to fiddle with your fingerboard or skate the flatbar in your driveway while feeling the hype from the clip. Tristan is currently back down south in Tampa, holding up at home for the pandemic. We hit him up to talk about putting the edit together in his childhood home between GTA V binges and spliff breaks. Check out the convo below, and if you’re feeling inspired, send us your own quarantine edits to peep. JENKEM – Resurrecting the Infamous LA High Rail | jenkemmag

jenkemmag – A few months back we met Cory Keen, who builds all kinds of ramps, flatbars, and other high-quality obstacles that most of us made bootleg versions of with scrap wood and shipping palettes. Cory said he’s been wanting to build an exact replica of the L.A. High handrail (the almost tiny looking one from back in the day) and install it in the spot where the school took it out 15 years ago. This was a no brainer for us, so after a little bit of planning and historic photo research, we joined in and worked together to recreate the famous spot as closely as possible to its original glory. We snuck into the school late last Saturday night to bolt the rail into the stairs, then Sunday morning invited a bunch of skateboarders over to session it. The rail will be there until/if the school decides to tear it out, so get there while you can if you want a piece of re-history.
