Children and youth in countries caught up by conflict and inequality are being empowered through skateboarding and Skateistan as shown in the documentary, Land of Skate.

Growing up in Afghanistan as a girl is tough. It’s one of the most difficult places for girls to access education. Latifa is a Youth Leader at our Skate School in Mazar. She has gained education at Skateistan and learned to skate, and is now a role model to the younger girls part of the program. Latifa is one of over 900 girls who are part of our programs worldwide and, as a Youth Leader, she plays a crucial role in helping other girls succeed. A talented skateboarder in Afghanistan; her strength, positive mentality and kind nature make her an inspirational role model to the students and to the wider community.
