You may not know what Matias Elichabehere’s physical profile looks like, but you’ve definitely heard his music before in Minuit, Magenta, TransWorld or HY Skate Bag videos. Yet first and foremost, Matias is a skateboarder and now here he is, presenting us a mixtape of his footage collected over the years from Bordeaux by Yoan Taillandier to San Francisco with Zach Chamberlin – edited, you guessed it, to a brand new song by Matias! Excerpt from a previous portrait for LIVE by Olivier Fanchon: Eyes On!

Soy Panday "B&B" / PREMIERE | LIVE skateboard media

Soy Panday "B&B" / PREMIERE | LIVE skateboard media – Benjamin Deberdt – “Finally, the closing segment of the B&B video series consists in the tale of Soy Panday’s dream. Out of all the B&B sections, whereas the others happened more spontaneously, Soy’s is the most orchestrated and its process was the most conducted. Upon watching the former installments in the series, Soy brought up the idea that we should film a video part of his together – that was around three years ago. Soy had just moved back to Paris after a short Bordeaux stint, triumphally overcome health issues and was just getting on a skateboard again. For two years, I kept visiting him every once in a blue moon for a week, and we just kept going on little missions with the camera on non-stop, going around collecting footage; eventually bumping into friends in the process too. The basic idea was to make a sort of updated version of Soy’s PARISien clip by Sylvain Robineau, just with more tricks. After a while, Soy started reflecting about some unreleased, local video parts of his from the early 2000’s, and brought up the idea of trying and incorporating them into the project. Maybe a year went by where we didn’t film, then Soy eventually sent me those old video parts of him and I started editing. As the last segment of the full B&B video, the editing of Soy’s part mirrors Vivien Feil’s (who had the opening part, and Soy has been close friends with for a long time), with more depth and wisdom compared to Vivien’s as his was more naively nonchalant. Where Vivien was playing, Soy ponders the meaning of existence, time, love and expression, looking back on his own experience only to propel himself better into the future. “Life itself is still beautiful” – Pontus Alv.
