Indiana-based singer-songwriter and producer Omar Apollo’s career has taken off quickly, with fans around the world falling in love with his warm, homespun blend of funk, R&B, lo-fi indie rock, and Latinx rhythms. He’s gone from bedroom musician to rising star by the age of 21 and become one of the Midwest’s most exciting young artists. With the ‘Friends’ and ‘Stereo’ EPs under his belt, a song on the ‘Skate Kitchen’ film soundtrack, collaborations with the likes of Cuco and Still Woozy, and his own sold-out headlining tours, Apollo is on the brink of completely blowing up. Following a recent string of shows, he dropped by Highsnobiety’s New York office to perform stripped down versions of “Kickback” and “Friends.”

Dede Lovelace Reviews This Summer’s Hottest Shades From Thom Bro…

highsnobiety – ‘Betty,’ HBO’s new series inspired by Crystal Moselle’s 2018 film ‘Skate Kitchen,’ has just about everything you want from a bingeable summer series to consume in quarantine. It’s fresh, it’s fun, and it introduces us to five incredible women who you’ll want to be your best friends within minutes — as the show pretty succinctly states, “It’s called being down for my girls.” It’s practically a bonus that these women are stylish as hell. With that in mind, we could think of no one better than Dede Lovelace (who stars as Janay) to be our Guest Eyewear Critic. Watch our video above to get her thoughts on an array of summer sunnies inspo — including Thom Browne (“Dope”), Gentle Monster, and Oakley.
