The Birth of Jamaican Skateboarding | Thank You Skateboards

Thank You Skateboards – Skateboarding in Jamaica, much like skateboarding as a whole, was born from surfing. Check out Jamaica’s first built skate spots at Jamnesia Surf Camp in Bull Bay near Kingston, Jamaica and also the DIY quarter at Boston Bay, Portland. Thank You Skate Co was invited to Jamaica to skate and get involved with raising money to support Freedom Skatepark and Youth Center which will provide young people with a multi-purpose creative platform for education and youth entrepreneurship. Jamaica’s First Official Skatepark! | Thank You Skateboards

Thank You Skateboards – After taking a trip to Jamaica in 2019, Thank You Skate Co is teaming up with the Flipping Youth Foundation and Concrete Jungle Foundation to support the creation of the Freedom Skatepark and Youth Center in Kingston, Jamaica. The Concrete Jungle Foundation is an incredible team that built Angola’s first skatepark. TCJF will be leading the build and hiring local skaters to mentor in skatepark construction. By completion, each team member will be a certified concrete tradesman able to use this skill for skateparks and beyond. To maintain the sustainability of the skatepark within the community and create opportunities, the Youth Center will provide salaries for local skaters managing the skatepark on a daily basis. The Youth Center will also provide a platform for the community to teach skate workshops, host music events, and curate art exhibitions to inspired and empower entrepreneurial opportunities. With your help, we will be able to provide decks, supplies, salaries, and more to keep this project viable for years to come. 100% of the profits from Thank You Skate Co’s “One Love Jamaica” skateboard will be donated to the Freedom Skatepark and Youth Center in Kingston, Jamaica.
