In 2019 Flat Earth FC, a Madrid based team, became the first football club in the world to represent an idea rather than a geographic location. Instigated by the club’s president Javi Poves, he renamed his relatively unknown, third division football club Flat Earth FC, changing the logo, kit and football chant to reflect his belief that Earth is flat.
